John entered the music world at the age of 8 with a brutal stint on the violin. His parents eagerly replaced the violin with a guitar. He later migrated to electric and upright bass, playing in countless rock and country bands over the years.
He joined Three Penny Revue (precursor of The Hit Men) in 2002 as it was morphing from a swing band to its current incarnation featuring Motown, R&B, soul and blues. A lifelong musical diet of artists such as Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett and James Brown makes his role as bassist with The Hit Men especially satisfying. Additional influences came from jazz fusion players such as Jeff Beck, Larry Coryell and Joe Zawinul as well as bassists Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke and James Jamerson.
